Virginia (Ginger) Pryor has nearly three decades of experience leading child welfare and social services policy and system improvement initiatives. In her current role Chief Strategy Officer at Covenant House International, Ginger will help lead the implementation and support of their strategic vision, federation-wide in support of their mission to provide immediate and long-term support for young people facing homelessness and survivors of trafficking. Previously, as President and Founder of Phoenix, Arizona-based VP Consulting Collective, Ginger served as a strategic thought partner, building the capacity of individuals, groups, communities, and organizations to promote positive system transformation and generational impact for children and families. Ginger has also served as Principal Associate at Abt Associates, leading the design and implementation of child and family well-being domestic strategy. Prior to joining Abt, she served as Acting Director and the Chief Deputy Director of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, where she oversaw all business operations and programmatic services. Ginger previously served as Senior Director of Casey Family Programs’ Los Angeles Field Office and as Senior Director of Strategic Consulting, supporting more than 45 different child welfare jurisdictions. She also served as Director of the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services. Ginger’s commitment to bringing hope to vulnerable communities and organizations through human service innovation, leadership development, and strategic system and policy reform extends to her volunteer work as a mentor for youth in the foster care system, as well as her service as past board member and President of the Black Administrators in Child Welfare (BACW). She has also served as adjunct faculty for the schools of social work at Howard University and Virginia Commonwealth University, helping to prepare the next generation of child welfare advocates. Ginger received a BA in Sociology from Washington University and an MSW from Howard University.
