Dr. Jo Kay Ghosh joined Heluna Health in 2021 as director of research and evaluation, bringing more than 15 years of experience in public health research and practice. She leads the effort to build a robust research and evaluation program for Heluna Health and to highlight and augment the impact of the organization’s work in collaboration with our many program partners.
Dr. Ghosh has worked in both academic research and in public health practice with deep roots in environmental health and communicable disease. Prior to joining Heluna Health, she served as health effects officer & director of Community Air Programs at the South Coast Air Quality Management District in the greater Los Angeles region. Previously, Dr. Ghosh worked at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health in the Communicable Disease Control and Prevention Division, where she led the epidemiology team in the tuberculosis program. She has conducted research in these roles, as well as at UCLA and USC, and has numerous publications in the fields of air pollution health effects, maternal/child health, and tuberculosis.
Dr. Ghosh received her PhD in epidemiology from the UCLA School of Public Health. She holds an MPH in epidemiology and biostatistics from UC Berkeley’s School of Public Health and a BS in bioengineering from UC Berkeley’s School of Engineering.
